EzDesign Front Lip
For any clients interested in bring your BMW G8X M to track, here is the basic idea of how our front lip works.
The general idea of automobile aerodynamics are similar, push the car to the ground. The main purpose of front lip works a little bit differently compare to how rear spoiler works. The general idea of a rear wing is to create high air pressure on top of the wing and lower air pressure under the wing. So the difference between top and bottom of the wing will force the entire part goes lower, just like water will always go lower, same with air (totally opposite compare to air plane wing.
The way a front lip works is to create higher air speed by limit amount of air goes under the car by force as much air as possible to the side or to the top. In our case, it does both and some of air goes into the bumper inlet in order to cool down the brake. Now, due to less air goes under the car, the entire car works like a rear wing - the top of the car has much more air ( air pressure) compare to the air pressure underneath. The car now will be sucked into the ground. Which is also why most of sports car are low to the ground. We have also try to keep the center lip as flat as possible, any other shape will generate vortex, lower the air speed, increase the total amount of air under the car.
In the future, both our wing and front lip will have a racing series. All racing series products will have DRS option, provide more air pressure, extra drag as air brake and back to straight possition when you are going straight line.
